You should lock the other thread because it's pretty much dead/people who want help can't find that thread due to their short attention spans.

Reason being this thread has a more direct title so those that are looking for help will post here as opposed to the other thread because I'm seeing a lot more threads being made regarding PC help in the off topic section that just get left behind due to other trending topics.

It's either this thread or make a sub form for technology ( better option) , you want to narrow these things down as having multiple threads concerning computers isn't going to work so well with the off topic section, just look at the amount of posts the weeaboo thread has no one is going to ever see the technology thread it's already on the 3rd page in the off topic section.

I should have made this suggestion in the F&S section.

    save up moar
    posting for sub
  6. Poison Guest

You should really save up more for atleast $500

$80 bucks more then your budget not including taxes

there is nothing i could do to find something better then this at least it has an i5 and a decent intergrated graphics card

Everything is pretty terrible besides this laptop/anything similar to this laptop for same price but different brand

I can't really recommend you anything cheaper then that since you'll be wasting money at that point

    windows 8... disgust
doesnt look that bad tho from my novice point of view
  8. Replica_Ex Stalwart Guardian Of The Lewd

8.1 is pretty much 7 at this point. just install classic shell and *shazzam* you've got about the same environment.

    Windows 8.1 is faster.

You can disable the metro gui very easily and get classic start and you pretty much have a faster windows 7.

Windows 8.1 is just better period....

If you still have any doubts let me tell you something then..

A client of mine had two computers one laptop that's 2 years old and a desktop from 2005, he needed them fixed since it was running real sluggish and even though he had no bloatware on it the Laptop had Windows 7 and the desktop had XP and Windows 7 Dual boot for some reason...

I installed Windows 8.1 on both of them...

Yes an 9 year old desktop is running windows 8.1 and it runs faster than it did on Windows XP/Windows 7.

The 9 year old desktop had around a 4-6 second boot time and was blazing fast; of course with a couple tweaks It was able to run smoothly with minor graphical lag when opening a new window ( 4 milisecond delay) on his extremely outdated hardware.

I definitely hate the way the windows apps take over my entire fucking screen and are hell to try running multiple apps on screen with, but I've found third party alternatives.

just today I was trying to read .pdf's in windows reader and it was disgusting. installed adobe's option and went along my way.
  13. Poison Guest

Yeah.... Just install 3rd party alternatives and everyone should have adobe reader...

Can't believe you read a .pdf through windows reader... that's painful..

But yeah otherwise Windows 8.1 is a great operating system it's fast and fairly stable...

I just really wish this guy didn't get banned on DA so I can get his updated windows 8.1 visual style... I have his steam skin and his ui design is pretty great.
  14. Replica_Ex Stalwart Guardian Of The Lewd

I didn't have anything else because I got this comp in may and I almost never read e-books.

glad I even remembered what adobe reader was...

this has different kinds of towers and you can customize parts
looks like they build it for you though
  18. Poison Guest

it's company that builds prebuilt pcs

yeah they have nice custom cases but...

Compare this to the pc build i'm building my client that's only 2 grand..

You're paying these people a premium for building it for you but the specs you get for the money just plain suck.

The 2k build I'm building can do 1440p gaming at max settings and has an unlocked i7 ( can overclock) ... and a 780 ( which is 10% weaker than a GTX TITAN for 30-40% cheaper) expect 80+ fps.

While the 2.5k build from falcon northwest can only do 1080p gaming and has just an LOCKED i5 ( you can't even overclock it).

The extra $551 can be spent towards an asus 1440p monitor or korean 1440p monitors ( can grab 2 of them) or whatever you want.

It's better to build it for yourself or if you can't build it yourself for whatever reason find someone who is willing to build it for you for a fair price.

Semi-related, but I just unrooted my phone and screwed myself over by downloading the Verizon update that was floating around. Thankfully, some wizard developed this wonderful tool. Great for anyone that doesn't have a USB jig around and/or is too scared/lazy to root their phone.

Hey guys, I was just wondering if these parts would go well together without any problems.

Ill be using this for an optical drive and Windows 7 for OS

It's my first built PC so I'm not sure if I'm spending my money wisely Lol, Thanks.

My budget was originally $600-700 but as I looked around it somehow rose to ~$950 Lol.

I would appreciate it if i'd get recommendations for similar spec parts for a lower price if possible.
I can ship in the US.
